Our Story

Mark Mc Cabe is our SKIPnROPE Founder and Head Coach. He has been teaching skipping workshops for the last 13 years. Mark has always had a love for sport, playing numerous forms over the years from Gaelic and Hurling to Soccer, Swimming and Tennis. If he’s not playing sport, he can be found coaching in his local GAA club or in Cúl Camps during the Summer and Easter holidays. He has been coaching in GAA Cúl Camps for 15 years.

Since launching the business in 2014, we’ve evolved significantly, growing not only as a company but also as a family. My wife and I now have three children - twins who are nearly three years old and an 8-month-old baby. To say life has changed dramatically is an understatement! Through it all, we’ve remained committed to bringing you the best in skipping products and resources, and we’re excited to continue this journey with you. Thank you for your continued support, it means the world to us!

Training

In March 2011, Mark was introduced to skipping via his former primary school Principal. His passion for skipping had begun. He completed a Level 2 Skipping Course through the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) in Great Britain. He could easily perform basic, partner and long rope skipping but this course gave him a thirst for more. His love for skipping grows from strength to strength, he can often be found perfecting his freestyle techniques and tricks.

Mark has an Honours Degree in Community Sports Leadership. This course allowed him to develop his natural sporting ability but also give him a great insight into coaching across other sports like badminton, athletics and basketball to name but a few. The Honours Degree course also delved into the anatomy and physiology side of sport giving me a greater understanding of the human body and how it works.
